Hallmark Hotel & Spa, Gloucester -Review

When browsing the internet for birthday ideas for my sister, I found an offer for a spa day, light lunch and two 20 minute treatments at Hallmark Hotel in Gloucester for a very reasonable price.  I had been before for a spa day and afternoon tea with my boyfriend so thought this would be perfect.  It was easy to find having been there before.  It's hard to miss as it's directly opposite a ski slope.

After signing in at the spa reception we were soon in the pool where an aqua aerobics class was taking place.  I opted for a Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage and the Express Pedicure.  After filling in a quick health and safety form, I was quickly called in.  I chose the varnish I wanted on my toes and was shown into a comfortable and warm treatment room.  The back massage was so relaxing.  The therapist applied the perfect amount of pressure and found all those little niggly bits which she eased out.  What was only 20 minutes felt like 40.  I didn't want it to end.  A glass of water later and it was time for my pedicure.  I was expecting a mini foot massage to be included but sadly not, though I was left with pretty, trimmed toes so no complaints here.

I sat by the pool to let the varnish dry as my sister received her treatments, then it was back in the pool before indulging in the steam room, hot tub and sauna...  Multiple times.  We could have used the gym but as I was training for a race at the time, I just wanted the pool for exercise.

We head upstairs to the very smart, recently(sh) refurnished restaurant.  I had contacted Hallmark Hotel in advance regarding my dietary needs and told that they would be happy to accommodate me and even suggested some meals they could offer.  However, on the day there was some confusion.  The bar manager came out to speak to me and was very helpful asking me what I would like to eat.  They then went completely out of their way to actually purchase ingredients for me.  Due to the all of this kerfuffle, we were offered complimentary drinks as an apology and I was soon presented with a delicious meal of houmous, pita breads and grilled vegetables with a tomato sauce.  I did feel very guilty for causing all these problems for the kitchen and bar staff but they seemed more than happy to deal with a tricky customer.

Overall, this was an excellent day out and a complete bargain.  All the staff I encountered during the day were so kind and willing to go the extra mile.  I will without a doubt be making full use of any other offers I come across for Gloucester Hallmark Hotel as it is worth every penny and more.

Have you ever visited a Hallmark Hotel?  What are your favourite spa treatments?

    1. This one often has offers on Travelzoo so keep your eyes out. It's great because it's local to me too, makes a great present and it really is a bargain for the price. If you get the opportunity, go.

    1. Ha! I have 3 sisters so they have to fight for my treats. This sister had a manicure but didn't leave long enough before getting back in the pool so the varnish smudged. I want to say she had a facial but she may have also had the back massage.
I can't remember. Whichever one it was, I remember she had a different therapist but an equally relaxing experience.

    2. Haha, oh dear! We thought each other was bad enough :-) Aw shame about the varnish; we never know when ours are truly dry! Yes any of those sound very relaxing :-)
