Bathroom Staples 02 - Dry Body Brushing

One of my favourite parts of my daily routine is dry body brushing, especially in the cold winter months. There are many benefits to body brushing. It is a super cheap way to achieve soft, even-toned skin without the use of additional products. It is great at boosting circulation so it is one of the first things I do in the morning before getting dressed as it warms me up really quickly.

There are a whole variety of brushes to suit any budget that come in a variety of lengths so if you aren't that flexible you can buy a long handle one to help you reach your toes and middle of your back. Some find the sensation to be a bit rough at first. After all, you are brushing yourself with dry bristles. I personally like the rough sensation as it really gets my blood pumping to my toes and fingers. Of course, you don't want to be in agony or physically scratching yourself so be as gentle as necessary for it to be enjoyable. It is wonderful for exfoliation so it's good to do pre-shower to wash away the skin cells and to come out extra smooth.

Dry body brushing is fantastic for a natural detox. It circulates your lymph acid system which doesn't have a pump system of it's own like blood does. After regular body brushing, you should notice your skin looking healthier, more evenly toned and smoother. I use a Hydrea brush, though any natural bristle brush will do and are widely available on your high street in shops such as Boots. The basic technique is to brush towards your heart and avoiding the breasts. I start at my toes and work up my legs. Then I do my hands and up my arms. I then circle my stomach, circle my back and then gently brush down my neck to my heart. It only takes a minute though you are welcome to focus on 'problem' areas such as bum and thighs. I try and do this twice a day. When I wake up and before I go to bed. I love it!Do you dry body brush? What is your favourite part of your skincare routine?
