GUEST POST | My Little Mumkin, Lush - Review

This weeks guest post is from Jo from She Wears Burgundy, a beauty and lifestyle blogger who I've been following for a while now.  With Mother's Day just around the corner, Jo has been checking out Lush's new products and created a fab review just in time.

If you've ever visited my blog before, you’ll notice that recently I have rekindled my love for all things Lush. Not that my adoration ever really left, but over the last few weeks I have been enjoying their products more and more.
The great thing about Lush is that not only are their products all beautiful, handmade and fresh, but they are also cruelty free – so you can enjoy your foamy bubble bar or rich moisturiser without fear of any harm coming to anything! Their products really do help you to feel good inside and out... which is why I thought they would be an excellent focus for a guest post on Tea in the Tub! Cruelty free products and bubble baths all rolled into one! What could be better?

During my most recent Lush shopping trip, I picked up one of their seasonal goodies. This one was from their Mother’s Day collection, which features pretty shapes, bright colours and an abundance of floral scents. Everything was so spring-like, it instantly made me feel all warm and excited, ready for the sun to emerge through the grey clouds and blossoms to appear on the trees.
This little gem is called a Mumkin. Isn't it cute?

Lush apparently sold this bubble bar last year, and it’s back with a little bit of a makeover. I've never tried this before so I don’t know what the difference is, but I wanted to give it a go anyway. I’d read the product description on their website while researching Mother’s Day gift ideas and as soon as I spied the word ‘raspberry’ I knew I had to try it out.

The Mumkin is a little bundle of brightly-coloured bubble-bar goodness fashioned into the shape of a rather unique pumpkin (of sorts). With its cute (slightly misshapen) little eyes, it reminds me of the Bombardino Bath Ballistic which I tried out and reviewed on my blog at Christmas. It’s slightly smaller than I expected but it smells divine, so I wasn't too disappointed; Lush’s bubble bars tend to be small but mighty.

Like I said, spring is in the air at Lush, and the Mumkin is laced with the scents of fresh raspberries, which just conjures images of grassy fields, fruit salads and sunshine. There’s also a dash of bergamot oil, lemon oil and violet, to give it the slightly fresh floral edge. In all, they are all the perfect scents to ensure your mum has a cheerful bath time!

I used half of the Mumkin one evening after a gym session. I ran hot water and crumbled the bar into the bath, watching the water turn a vibrant pink. I almost couldn't bear to break it in half, but believe me it was worth it. Normally I'm not one for pink – unless it’s muted or done tastefully, I tend to avoid it. However there was something about this astonishingly pink bath that just made me feel relaxed, pampered and very, very happy. Thanks to using half of the bar, my bath was full of glistening bubbles, into which I emerged with a book in hand for the best part of an hour.

I absolutely loved this bubble bar. It was just as good as any other bubble bar I've used from Lush; producing a large number of bubbles, turning the water a beautiful colour and smelling divine. There were no problems at all, and the bubbles lasted right up until I got out.

The smell was definitely sweet and fruity. With so many of Lush’s Mother’s Day products being focused on flowers, I thought that this made a great alternative! However, I know that some may find it too sweet – one or two people have mentioned that it’s a little strong for them, and I know personally that my mum would prefer something slightly more subtle. Nevertheless, if your mum enjoys sweet and sugary scents which fill the room and envelop her in their ‘pink-ness’, then this is the gift you should be looking at buying.

I won’t necessarily be buying this for my own mum, but I personally loved it, and it makes a very cute spring-time gift for anyone, whatever the occasion – as long as you enjoy long, hot fruity baths which are cruelty free, kind to your skin unmistakably, undeniably  pink!

  1. I saw this in the shop after hearing good things about it but I wasn't really a fan of the smell, not sure if it would be different once it's in the water! xx

    1. I always like to sniff before I buy. Something may sound scrummy in the description but smell disappointing when you get it.
