Lime Lip Salve, Simply Soaps - Review

Lime Lip Salve*
Last year Simply Soaps kindly sent me a few of their products. Their Peppermint & Oats soap (see my review here) remains one of my favourite soaps. As well as soaps, they offer various other skincare and bathing products such as this Lime Lip Salve. It smells so refreshingly juicy that I have to hold back from stuffing myself with fruity sweets.

Like all Simply Soaps products, the lip salve uses 100% natural ingredients. This one in particular is made with shea nut butter, cocoa butter, sunflower, avocado, organic beeswax and lime oil. All fantastically yummy ingredients. I can't understand how people happily smear petroleum and chemicals all over their lips when they could be rubbing these nourishing, healthy oils onto their skin instead.

Whilst this product is great in theory (it smells great, tastes great and uses great ingredients), I found that it did not absorb well and was a tad too oily. This product was far too tasty to waste so I used my imagination and added a big teaspoon of sugar to the pot et voilà, a yummy lip scrub was created. Perhaps Simply Soaps should create a lip scrub range because the lime lip salve-now-scrub leaves my lips zesty, soft and deliciously kissable.

Keeping his nose moist
Have you experimented with products such as a turning a balm into a scrub? What are your favourite natural lip based products?

  1. What a sweet pooch!
I've not seen this brand before but good on you for finding an alternative use for something that wasn't working for your lips, very inventive! x

    1. Waste not want not. It was conveniently in a glass tub so adding sugar was easy. No mess or bother.

  5. Sorry, what were you saying? I was completely distracted by the adorable pooch. Good adaptation of a product, shame it didn't work as a lip salve as it sounds delicious x
