May Day, Lush - Review

May Day bath bomb, Lush
May Day bath bomb, Lush
I live in Gloucestershire, home of the badger cull so when Lush emailed me about their new May Day bath bomb I knew I'd be stocking up. All the proceeds for each bomb sold minus the VAT goes towards anti-badger cull charities in the UK such as Brian May's Save Me.

Lush are amazing. I'm sure I've spoke about it before but a few years ago they released a limited edition, colour changing Karma Chameleon bath bomb with proceeds going to APA (Animal Protection Agency). I regret not buying more as they smelt amazing and again, the money went to a great cause.

May Day has an interesting smell. When I smelt it in the shop I thought it was very citric but on the bus journey home, I kept getting wafts of liquorice. May Day actually contains fennel oil (hence the smell of liquorice) and bergamot oil (hence the smell of citrus) and I love both fragrances so to me this was a happy combination (It also contains rosewood oil.)

This bath bomb is a fast fizzer and leaves the water clear. Great if you want a change from Lush's usual multi-coloured, glittery baths that smell gooey and sweet like the aftermath of a unicorn's picnic buffet. You are also left with a little surprise...

Hidden message
If like me you're against the badger-cull, there are many peaceful demonstrations up and down the country that you can attend. Or you could just pop to your local Lush store before the end of May or log onto their website and add a few of these to your basket. Quickly! You (and the badgers) don't have much time left.

What have you bought in the past knowing the proceeds were going to a good cause?

  3. I don't even need to read this (although I have for the record haha) and I'm not a fan of liquorice but I need to buy some of these purely for the cause!
    Thanks for this post :D

    1. Once in the bath the smell is probably more citrusy than liquoricy so don't let that put you off. Besides, you can always become the favourite family member/friend and give them to loved ones as 'just-because' gifts!

  4. Such a good cause and love that hidden message. I always try to buy things for a good cause, mainly through charity shop shopping. I love it when big companies do things for charity too. I love charity tote bags the most i think though! :)

    1. Me too. I have 2 Lush totes. So handy and they send out a message.
Usually if something is for charity, I'll buy it regardless of whether I like it. If I don't, I can give it as a present to someone.
