Mexican night in with Santa Maria - Review

I'm a BuzzAgent member and a recently I was asked if I'd be interested in trying out the new Santa Maria range. As a lover of food the answer was obvious and I was soon sent a delicious set to cook up a small family feast.
I rarely eat Mexican as it always seems such a fuss and I really dislike spicy food but Santa Maria has proven that it can be done quickly and with a mild yet tasty flavour that the most cowardice taste-buds can handle. I was able to do everything in about 20 minutes including preparing the veg, cooking and slicing the Quorn fillets.

Compared to the leading competitor, I found the tortillas much more durable as they did not tear when I wrapped them and their texture was enjoyably soft rather than rubbery. The packaging recommended 8 seconds in the microwave per individual tortilla but I found they took about 15 seconds each. Unfortunately they are not in resealable packaging and I knew that we would not be eating 8 in one sitting so I froze the remainder and they kept very well.

I am a crisp fiend so was overly excited to try these. I could have eaten them all before I added the Smokey BBQ seasoning but I'm so glad I didn't because they came alive with flavour once they were given a good shake. They went really well with all the Mexican grub. Generally I hate salsa sauce but I've been converted by Santa Maria's mild salsa. It was really good on the tortillas with generous chunks of tomato and made the perfect dip for the chips. We had to fight over the last few crumbs. The seasoning had settled so dad won by default as they were a bit too spicy for everyone else.

Overall I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. I will be keeping an eye out for Santa Maria products as they make a delicious, quick and potentially healthy (depending on what you add) meal.
If I had realised how quick and easy tortilla wraps were I would have donned the sombrero long ago. Roll on next Mexican night (though someone else can do the cooking next time).
