Upbeat, A fun & fruity protein drink - Review

Upbeat*
Upbeat*

I've cut down on long distance running and instead I've been focusing on shortish runs in preperation of my 5 mile thanksgiving run in San Francisco. After running, I'm tired and can't always be bothered to make up my own protein drink so when I heard about Upbeat, the lazy monkey on my back smiled. Whilst I couldn't take any with me to America, I had been enjoying them after some of my runs at home.

Upbeat is a low calorie, low fat fruity dairy drink that's high in protein. There are currently 3 flavours; strawberry, blueberry & raspberry and mango & passionfruit (my favourite.) Unlike other protein based drinks, this one is more like drinking a smoothie so great if you don't like the usual drinks available. Currently I've found Upbeat at Holland & Barrets, Co-Op and Tescos. You can visit their website for a list of stockists.

Speaking of their website, there's a protein calculator which is really simple to use and tells you your personal recommended protein intake which to be honest, I had no idea before how much I needed.

I love the packaging. It's possibly my favourite design of any other drinks I've seen in the shops in a very long time. Many protein drinks seem to be heavily marketed towards a male audience with dark, bold colours. Upbeat bottles are colourful, friendly and welcoming, focusing on 'health' rather than 'power'.

You don't need to be sporty to enjoy Upbeat either. I brought a bottle with me on my journey to the airport as when I'm on the go following time schedules I tend to skip meals which is really bad. Having this with me was great as it kept me feeling full. A healthy sports drink as well as a snack. Great for rushing around with. I hope they expand their range soon and maybe introduce a vegan suitable drink made with soy, pea or brown rice protein. Yummy!

What protein drinks do you drink? Have you tried Upbeat?

This is the first post I've written completely on my tablet. If anything looks wrong, please let me know. Thank you!

    1. I don't usually go for strawberry flavoured things as they taste artificially but this one uses really strawberries so I liked it too.

    1. Well if you know you're going to be doing exercise or won't have time for a proper meal one day, these are great.
