Summer Styling Tips: Ankle Boots, JD Williams

I was recently introduced to JD Williams, a brand that is quite well known yet unfamiliar to me. They do a vast selection of ankle boots, including several pretty faux leather animal-friendly options. I was lucky enough to pick their Heavenly Soles Ankle Boots and I love them! They have fast become my favourite fashion focus piece to wear this summer, especially as they are so versatile. Boots in the summer? Yes, you can!

As much as we like to dream that we will wear flip flops all summer long, we British know that is far from the case. Ankle boots can be worn throughout the summer much more than expected. From the cooler, cloudy days out where you aren't sure which way the weather will turn, to a couple of street music festivals and fancy meals out. They are also great on dog walks and training sessions...

Being outside in the summer rain, these man-made synthetic boots are water resistant and will see me through the different seasons. They have been great for wearing in the summer and I look forward to wearing them long into the autumn.

There are many ways you can wear ankle boots. I've worn them with leggings and skinny jeans but I think you could easily get away with wearing them with a dress, depending on the style and your confidence. Perhaps even on a night out with a skirt or pair of shorts. The only limit is your imagination. From a walk in the park to a meal with friends, they are stylish enough for many occasions.

The only thing I would advise is that you use their foot measuring guide prior to purchasing and read the reviews on the JD Williams website on specific items to get an idea of how well they fit. I am a standard size 5 so requested their Heavenly Soles Ankle Boots in a size 5 wide e fit as no standard fit was available. I was expecting them to be a little on the wide side but found them surprisingly narrow and far too roomy around the toes. I would slip around even with thick socks on which is not what you want to be wearing when it's warm outside. Reading the reviews, I was not the only one to find a sizing issue with these boots so I tried a size 4. It fit much better but again they were narrow. Despite this, they were comfortable. If you do require a wide fit then perhaps choose another from their plentiful selection. This particular boot is available in a wide ee fit, so you could go or that option.

JD Williams is a site I'll be frequenting more often as there always seems to be a really good sale on. Their dresses are really pretty and their footwear is very reasonably priced. The quality surpassed my expectation for an own-brand and new customers get 20% off and free delivery on their first order automatically added.

I love blogging about fashion but I don't think Tea in the Tub will be will be turning into a fashion focused blog any time soon. Maybe when the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Massive respect to fashion bloggers out there, I don't know how they do it. Taking photos of yourself is hard and getting someone else to take photos how you actually want them is even harder!

How would you wear ankle boots in the summer? Have any own-brand clothing lines ever taken you by surprise?

    1. They have been great throughout autumn. Despite being entirely man made material, they are waterproof.

  2. I really like those! Good point about not being able to wear flip flops even though it's summer!
