The Vegan Kind Box, December – Review

After the huge success of TVK1 (see my review here), I eagerly awaited the arrival of TVK2.  I was having a miserable morning which soon changed when the postman came with said TheVeganKind box in his arms.  I wanted to rip it open but calmed myself down enough to get the camera and my ever-faithful hound Pepé.

The contents

As I mentioned in my first review, 10p from the sale of each box goes to the charity voted by you on their Facebook page.  This month the chosen charity was Greyhound Gap, a charity that rescues, takes in and re-homes greyhounds and lurchers who would otherwise be put-down.
TVK also includes a recipe from a fellow blogger.  This months was for a delicious Twice Baked Butternut Squash.

The products in this months edition are:

I was a little overwhelmed by the smell of the cleaner, not because it was unpleasant but due to the fact that I’m used to natural cleansers having barely any odour.  I associate strong smelling cleaners with chemicals and this is certainly not the case.  I used it to clean the kitchen worktops and the bath.  It works really well so I was very impressed.  I use a lot of oily treats in the bath and this cut through all the dirt and grime spectacularly.
As soon as I saw the Freedom Mallows, they were gone.  I tried them at Bristol Vegan Festival and my local health food shop has started to stock the strawberry flavour.  For my boyfriends birthday in August I made a sweet potato pie covered with these marshmallow bad boys.  Veggie marshmallows are expensive so these are a real bargain.
I cannot really comment on the Dr Bronner’s Baby Mild Magic Soap as I gave it to my 18 month old niece for Christmas and she hasn’t tried it yet.  I did sniff it before I wrapped it and it had zero smell.  It’s multi-purpose so I think it would be great for anyone with sensitive skin or allergy prone.
I had heard of YAOH lip balms before but never tried them.  I received a mango flavoured one and so far so good.  For me to class a lip balm as good, it must pass my test.  This test is either a long walk in the cold with Pepé or a run.  If my lips are still moist and soft when I return home, the lip balm wins.  This one won as it lasted a long cold, wet walk and tasted delicious.
Like the marshmallows, the Arbonne bar also didn’t last long.  I ate it before a run and it supplied me with enough energy for me to not collapse 5 minutes in.  I’m looking to buy more of these when I start training for my next half marathon as I like to run almost-empty and not with a belly full of breakfast.  I received a fruity one and was happy to find it was nut-free.  I’m not sure about the rest of the range so if you have an allergy, check!
A few months ago I won a selection of Mendill towlettes (check out my review here) and liked them so I was pleased to get some more.  The snowflake decoration went straight on the tree.  A very sweet gift from the folks at TKQ HQ.
I’m participating in Veganuary so I’m looking forward to TVK3 to help me through.
These lasted all of… oh… 60 seconds?

What are your favourite vegan products?  Are you going to take part in Veganuary?

They are TOO good. I could probably eat about 6 bags before I started to feel sick haha. TVK is a box definitely worth having a look at so go check out their website. I believe you can still buy this months box online.

Thank you! I like seeing blogs that feature cute little fluff balls so couldn't resist including him.

Bless him! Pepe is so sweet. I can't wait until I'm no longer renting so I can get a furry buddy too. Nice to have found your blog Helen.

Oops sorry for the late reply. If I had my own place and no travel plans, it would be overrun with little rescued beasts!
