|Bella, Pepé (white pup), Monty (grey pup) and Elvis (black pup)|
When the pups were born I moved in with my sister to look after them as she works full time. I like to think of myself as the nanny from 101 Dalmatians. I am very anti-breeding so was upset when I found out Bella was pregnant. Hundreds of healthy dogs who would make lovely pets are put down. The statistic is roughly for every 1 dog bought from a breeder, 5 healthy rehomable dogs are put down. Anyway, we ended up with Pepé by default. My parents were only too happy to keep him as he was born 2 days after our old dog Sadie died.
As soon as I found out we were keeping Pepé, I bought a clicker and taught him to sit in under 5 minutes! I was amazed. Despite their size, chihuahuas are one of the more intelligent breeds. He can sit, lie, crawl, bow, paw, other paw, speak, jump, stand up, touch an object and roll-over on command. Sadly he doesn’t ‘come back’ or ‘stop biting that postman’s trousers’ on command.

Last year he came 2nd in ‘dog judge would most like to take home’ at a fun dog show. Such a cutie. He is my fur-baby. Regardless of being small, he can walk for miles without tiring. He is also very good at sleeping and does it quite a lot.
