Vintage ’13 Perfume, Abel Organics – Review

To be honest, I do not wear perfume. Overpowering fragrances give me headaches. I heard about Abel Organics on Facebook and they have produced one of the only 100% organic Eau de Parfum.

I requested a sample of their début fragrance Vintage ’13 which quickly came in the post. On first whiff I was quite pleased. It is a unisex fragrance which suits me well as generally I much prefer men’s scents as women’s are far too strong. Being a lover of chia tea, I adore spicey scents (hate ginger though!) and this fragrance is based on one of my favourite spices, clove. A the scent sits on your skin for a while, you’ll discover notes of sandalwood and vanilla as well as herby smells.

Overall it is quite a subtle perfume and I would consider purchasing it in the future. Due to the subtleness, you need to reapply fairly frequently as it does fade. Perhaps it is the fact that this is a natural product using organic ingredients which means I don’t get headaches or maybe it’s the delicate fragrance. Either way, if I ever came into money enough to spend on perfume, Abel Organics would be the first company I would consider and I hope that other perfumeries considering venturing down the organic route.

What is your favourite perfume? Have you tried anything by Abel Organics?

The company have said that this is due to it being a natural product so I'm happy to reapply and smell good than to smell strongly all day and get a headache.

I like this one too! I got a sample from Content Beauty on the Field Trip Tour & am like you, preferring manly scents haha! It's pretty expensive though!

Wow. It is so nice. If I had a full sized bottle I'd definitely be a perfume wearing convert.

Thanks for your review Helen – thrilled to hear you like wearing Vintage '13!

Regarding the longevity – yes this is very much to do with the fact that it is an all natural fragrance. All natural means no synthetic fixatives (used in perfumery to help make the fragrance 'fix' to your skin). To use a food analogy, artisan bread without any preservatives stays fresh and amazing for just a day, whereas bread from the supermarket made with preservatives can stay exactly the same as the day you bought it for several days… frighteningly, sometimes even weeks (but will never be as nice as that artisan bread on it's first day!)

Hope you get some lovely wear out of the sample – perfect for these crisp Autumn days!

That's a wonderful analogy. I much prefer a scent that dies down and having to reapply than a chemically concoction that is so strong even on just one spray that causes me headaches. Vintage '13 is just such a nice scent/

P.s. A tip – applying after oiling or moisturising your skin will help the scent last longer – dry skin absorbs the organic essential oils quicker 🙂
