We are on the verge of Autumn so what better time to prepare your house for the oncoming winter with a reverse Spring Clean? Here are my super easy 5 steps to creating a winter-ready home.
Call me weird, but I love a good clean. Nothing de-clutters your mind more than de-cluttering your house. Seriously, when my room is a mess I find it so hard to focus on anything. Mess is simply not relaxing. So as we approach a new season, what a perfect time to clean before the chaos begins.
1. Dust, polish and vacuum
Get the basics done. When you are taking items off shelves to dust, consider if you actually need said items. What purpose/value do they serve?
2. Reverse your wardrobe
Pack your summery clothes away into either vacuum seal bags (very cheap on ebay) and put them into a spare suitcase. Time to get out those thick jumpers, hats and gloves again.
3. Donate to a charity shop
If you decide certain items are no longer loved and needed, put them in a box and pop them over to your local charity shop who will be happy to take them off your hands.
4. Open your windows
Take advantage of the few warm autumn days we have to give your house a final blow around. You can’t beat fresh air.
5. Reorganise the furniture
If you are feeling adventurous, maybe experiment with moving furniture around. You don’t have to full on move sofas and dressers, just try putting that vase that sits in the corner over on the table instead for a change.
Here is a great infograph from Mesothelioma and Asbestos Awareness Centre. Yes, I know this is all about Spring cleaning, but this is still very relevant for Autumn cleaning.
What are your autumn cleaning tips? Do you enjoy cleaning too or is it just me?
