I’m always looking for fun things for my partner and I to do together. We both like cooking (sometimes) and are both vegetarian. Gousto are a delivery service who send portion sized ingredients you need for meals selected by you. Perfect!
|Gousto Recipe Kit*
Gousto offer an ever changing menu. I expected maybe 2 veggie options max so was surprised at the variety of both vegetarian and vegan options. Nut free too. Yay! You simply select how many people you want to feed and how many meals (I chose 2 meals for 2 people) then browse their menu and choose.
I opted for meals that looked a little different: Japanese Aubergine Katsu Curry and Crispy Mushroom Dhal Curry & Coriander Chutney.
|Gousto Recipe Cards|
The food arrived well packaged and cold. Unfortunately I discovered that wool is used as insulation so despite offering vegan meals, this makes Gousto unsuitable for ethical vegans.
We were supplied with all the ingredients we needed as well as vital recipe cards and a cute Gousto wooden spoon.

|Japanese Aubergine Katsu Curry|
I may say, I was pretty damn pleased with the results. Our food looked amazing! Fancy restaurant quality in poor kitchen and made by us! The portion sizes were generous too. Neither of us felt hungry afterwards thats for sure. Cooking together is not something we usually have the chance to do together so creating these dishes together was surprisingly fun.
We will definitely be keeping the cards to use again as the meals were delicious. I think they will be a great way to show off to our friends as the meals look quite complicated and fancy but Gousto simplify the steps meaning anyone (including me!) can cook up something amazing and filling. We have already made the dal again, buying the ingredients ourselves and using the recipe card.
Boxes can be petty much delivered as often as youu want, even if that is just once a month. Postponing deliveries or cancelling your membership is very easily online. As much as I’d love to do this often, it is not within my budget right now but I will most definitely order another box in the future.
Have you tried any postal recipe kits before? Would you pick the aubergine katsu or mushroom dal?
*PR supplied box. All opinons completely my own.
